Abstract:
This research paper analyzes and presents the attitude of young people towards homosexuality. Firstly, a brief theoretical introduction explains the causes, stereotypes and prejudices regarding homosexuality. Afterwards, I used a questionnaire to get some aditional data.
Homosexuality is not a recent phenomenon. There had been various forms recorded throughout the history. But there have been changes in people’s perception towards it. The presented research is concentrated on the attitude of some young people to the homosexual ones. The research shows that girls in years 8 and 9 of the primary school support the equality of the homosexuals, their marriages and the adoptions of babies more than their male classmates. They both believe that homosexuality is not an illness. More girls believe that the number of homosexual couples is increasing. We cannot say that young people generally accept homosexuality. I am certain that media and activists help the acceptance of homosexual orientation and that the influence of Roman Catholic Church in Slovenia is decreasing.
Key words: Homosexuality, Slovenia, sexual orientation, attitude, young people. |
