Povzetek:
Osnovna šola na Izlakah ima za sabo že veliko let —vse od leta 1884 pa do danes. V tem času je nekajkrat spremenila lokacijo, in sicer iz stavbe na hribu poleg cerkve, do prostorov mlekarske zadruge v dolini in današnje lokacije, kjer šolsko poslopje stoji od leta 1929.
Med 2. svetovno vojno je pouk najprej začel potekati v nemščini, nato pa so poslopje zasedli Nemci, ukinili pouk ter šolo spremenili v zapor. Ko so proti koncu vojne odšli, so poslopje partizani zažgali, a so ga po vojni obnovili in pouk na Osnovni šoli Izlake se je nadaljeval. Leta 1983 se je preimenovala v Osnovno šolo Ivana Kavčiča — po prvem upravitelju šole oziroma ravnatelju.
Bil je pobudnik številnih aktivnosti: od ustanavljanja društev in razvoja kulturnih dejavnosti do gradnje vodovoda. Ob okupaciji je bil razrešen učiteljske službe, malo pred koncem vojne pa so ga Nemci ujeli in ubili.
Skozi leta je osnovna šola postala osemletka, nato še devetletka. Zaradi potreb ter velikega števila učencev so jo obnovili, ji dozidali prizidek, da od leta 2007 nosi današnjo podobo.

Abstract:
The primary school in Izlake has been around for many years —from 1884 until today. During that time it has changed its location several times, from the building on a hill next to the church to the premises of the dairy cooperative in the valley and to its present location, where the school building has stood since 1929.
During World War II the lessons were taught in German but when the building was occupied by the Germans, the classes were canceled and the school was turned into a prison. Towards the end of the war, the Germans left and the building was burned down by partisans but was rebuilt after the war and classes in Primary School Izlake continued. In 1983 it was renamed to Ivan Kavcic Primary School – after the first school director or principal. He initiated a number of activities: the establishment of different school societies, the development of cultural activities, the construction of plumbing. During the occupation he was relieved of his position, was captured by the Germans and was killed shortly before the end of the war.
Over the years the primary school became a school with an eight and later a nine year program.
